Just when I thought the climbing season was over, I found myself in Las Vegas getting in some of the best rock climbing in the world.

I was feeling strong after logging some hikes above 10,000 feet, ready for my summit bid on the tallest mountain in the continental U.S.

An action-packed four days, all set up in a matter of weeks. Despite not being able to climb Mt. Baker, this was still my redemption climb.

My climb of Mount Whitney via the Mountaineers Route is on for June 22-24, 2021. Permits are approved and bags are packed!

I was really lucky with the weather, my guide and feeling unstoppable. These things helped to influence my attitude and overall experience.

The summit would be mine, but the gods of Mt. Shasta were going to make me earn it!

Is it the best timing? Probably not! But, Mt. Shasta, California's 5th tallest and most glaciated peak at 14,179 ft., is officially on.
